Making Sense of the Census (Fording the Langs, at Present)

William Walker, Sr. (b. 1640, d. 1728, VA, m. Elizabeth Warren), of Hanover or New Kent Counties, Virginia

WALKER/WARREN/LANGFORD CONNECTIONS: My interest in my Legacy ID 67630 William Walker Sr.’s having married a WARREN is that my ancestor, WALKER LANGFORD (see my ID 230), married Mary or “Polly” WARREN 9 Sep 1800. Did the families migrate together? Walker’s father was Joseph Langford, m. Mary ______. Of particular interest is the fact that William Walker Sr.’s son Sylvanus (m. Ann Tandy abt. 1710 in New Kent County, Virginia) had a son, Tandy Walker, b. 13 Dec 1714 in St. Peter’s Parish, New Kent, VA, who married Judith LANGFORD abt. 1735, in New Kent County, Virginia (Judith’s parents not given). –shb 8 Jun 2006

  1. I am a descendant of John Tandy Walker Fitts. His son was William Woodson Pass Fitts. I wish I knew how they connect to the Walkers. John Tandy Walker Fitts had a brother Robert Walker Fitts. They lived in Halifax Co., Va. John ansd his brother, Robert were overseers on a large plantation. Obadiah Woodson lived nearby. Was is his plantation? I believe the name Langfors and the name Richardson were used in the naming of Woodson Fits’ sons. He was married to Tabith Winfree, I believe. Fought in War of 1812, moved to White Co., Tn. and died in Eddyville, KY.

  4. My grandmother as an Allen directly descended from Richard Allin(Allen) of New Kent. So I’m a direct relation to William and Elizabeth Warren Walker. You’ll find more information viewing information the Walker and Stokes lines from the Virginia Gen Society. All the old familes intermarried so much, and named children after brothers, inlaws and godparents,it’s a huge spiderweb. Not to mention that so many records were destroyed in the Wars. Good luck.

  5. Mary Jane,

Where did you find the names John Tandy Walker Fitts and William Woodson Pass Fitts? In all my current research in Halifax County, Virginia I have not found either name on any records. I have found a John, Tandy, Walker and Woodson and they are all individuals. There are deeds, marriage records, census and court records but those names do not appear. I have also looked at the Winfrey bible and records but no William Pass Fitts appears. Could you give me some documentation that shows these names? My ansestor was Tandy W. Fitts born in Virginia.

  6. This fascinates me also, as I am descended from the Williams Walker. In addition to these Langford connections, Mary “Polly” Walker married Joseph Wright, and their son, John Lawson Wright marries Sarah Ann Langford, daughter of Edmund Langford, son of Euclid and Elizabeth Langford, son of Nicholas Langford, etc. I find these connections amazing!

  7. I too decend from David Walker who is related to this William as proved by DNA and also to the Allen’s I have not traced the Allen connection to the Walker’s. Looking for something that would connect the Walker families in New Kent Co. in the 1600’s.
