John Lyman Langford (b. 1894, UT, s/o John Russell and Ruth Sawyer Langford, m. Nina Melinda Jensen), of Junction, Piute, Utah

RELATIONSHIP: John Lyman Langford was the son of John Russell Langford and wife Ruth Sawyer Johnson (d/o Lyman and Elizabeth Johnson, of Junction, Piute, Utah). John R. and Ruth S. divorced when John Lyman Langford was a young child. John Russell was the son of my ancestors, James Harvey Langford and Mary Caroline Turnbaugh Langford Riddle, who also divorced. Of interest is the fact that John Lyman Langford, born in about 1890, married 6 Jun 1914, Nina Melinda JENSEN, daughter of Hans Peter Jensen and Edith Keziah Cox, of Mt. Pleasant and Fairview, both towns in Sanpete County, Utah. Also of interest, but undoubtedly just a coincidence, is the fact that the Johnsons adopted a son named John FARRIS (There were Farris and Langford connections in early Rockcastle County, Kentucky.) –shb 14 Jun 2006

1870 CENSUS–A SON NAMED “GEORGE P.” IS NOT LISTED IN THIS CENSUS. I do find what looks like a “Granville P. Lankford,” child in this family, born the same year as George. It is probable that they are the same son, especially since they have the same iitial. However, they might also have been twins, one of whom died before 1870, and it is also possible for two children to be born within the same year, in a family.
